POST PROCEDURE CARE FOR EYELINER

 

Apply an ice pack or wet cloth 10-15 minutes at a time at least 2-3 times a day (but no more than 20 minutes) to the treated area following the procedure until swelling subsides.  You may use a washcloth dipped in ice water, wrung out, or a Ziploc bag of frozen peas.  Never apply ice directly to your eyes.  Sleep on your back with the head elevated.  Ice helps to reduce swelling and aids the healing process.  Doctors advise Aleve (2 pills) and vitamin K, 500 mg.  The first few days following the procedure, you may find the area puffy.  Swelling usually subsides in 24-48 hours.  Bruising may occur in some cases.

 

FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR AT LEAST 3-5 DAYS

 

• Keep the treated area moist for 4 full days following the procedure by applying over-the-counter healing ointment or Vaseline, do not use Neosporin, 2 times daily, morning and night. Use a Q-tip.  Apply a thin layer of ointment; more is not better!  Remember, the ointment acts as a “bandage” and keeps out dust, pollen and air.  Clean area with cool water and mild antibacterial soap, and pat dry before reapplying ointment.
• Do not expose treated area to sun or a tanning booth, for 2 days.
• Absolutely no Neosporin, no cleansing creams, makeup or chemicals may be applied to the pigmented, treated areas for the first 3 days.
• No hot, steamy, full pressure showers, saunas, excessive sweating, Jacuzzis or swimming in chlorinated pools.  These things can hinder the color bonding process.
• No Retin-A, bleaching creams, glycolic acids, fruit acids or AHA acids on the treated area.
• NOTE:  After your procedure and after you are totally healed, DO NOT apply the Retin-A or fruit acids directly on the pigmented area.  They will lighten and/or change the color of the permanent makeup.  These products are excellent for your skin but be careful not to overlap them onto your permanent makeup.  It will also be important to use a waterproof sunblock on the area to help protect your color.
• If crust appears on the procedure area, do not pick or peel the crust off because color will be removed along with the crust.  Do not touch the procedure area with fingers as the fingers could transmit bacteria onto the area and lead to infection.  This could ultimately incur some additional expenses to you.
• Don’t sleep on a nice pillowcase for the first 2 nights.  Ointment and pigment can get on it.
• After 7 days, you may begin using mascara again; however, use a new tube.

REMEMBER:

There may be some itching.  This is normal.  DO NOT SCRATCH.  The color will appear very exact, dark and intense for approx. 3-4 days.  What appears to be too dark on your initial saturation visit, in most cases, will exfoliate, peel or slough off in approximately 1 week.  As healing progresses, the color will soften.
